Richmond Fellowship awarded Employer of the Year

Richmond Fellowship was named Employer of the Year at Progress to Excellence’s Training and Education Awards, held this month in Liverpool.

The national mental health charity, part of Recovery Focus, won in the category for more than 250 employees for their contribution to the communities they support through a commitment to training. Progress to Excellence is a specialist training provider in the health and social care sector.

Meanwhile, James Broady, a recovery worker at Richmond Fellowship’s Woodside supported housing scheme in Yorkshire, was named Learner of the Year.

James received the award after completing a QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care. He said:

“This award has woken me up and I want to learn more. I’ve been able to pass my new skills onto my colleagues and improved the support I can provide to people at Woodside.

“I’m very happy to win this award and am grateful for the opportunities it has given me.”

James had previously attempted an NVQ in Health and Social Care, but difficulties with dyslexia and functional skills left him demotivated. However, with peer support James gained the confidence to take on the QCF and complete the qualification.
