Investing in your development

We’re committed to investing in the ongoing development of our staff and we provide a range of learning opportunities to do this. We’re recognised for this commitment through our Investors in People Silver accreditation.

We also offer developmental opportunities through our graduate trainee, apprenticeship and work placement schemes.

Individual learning

Your individual learning needs are identified with your line manager and we tailor your development package accordingly to offer a blended and engaging range of learning opportunities. This includes: mandatory training such as health and safety; learning pathways based on your role and the service you work in; access to more than 220 e-learning modules online; formal qualifications; on the job shadowing and mentoring.

Leadership and management development

A management development programme has been offered for many years and this year we’re launching a Leadership Academy to strengthen this.

Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)

Where you’re required to complete QCF as part of your role or for continuous practice development, we support you to do this by paying for the fees and giving you study leave.

A success story:

Robert, an employment advisor in our Wiltshire Employment Service, recently completed his Level 4 QCF Diploma Course in Advice & Guidance on his 70th birthday. Robert’s 52 year working career as well as his job related learning and development continues at an age when many people would have retired. Thanks to our learning and development programme, Robert has taken the opportunity to continue training as well as retaining his part time employment.

Robert said: “When retirement age beckoned I started to look for a suitable part time role and was delighted to land a maternity cover contract with Richmond Fellowship. Here we are four and a half years later and I’m still here!”
