Birmingham based mental health charity My Time has been recognized for their work in supporting people with mental health problems in the Asian community.

My Time, an integrated division of Richmond Fellowship which is part of Recovery Focus, the national group of mental health and substance misuse charities, has received an award for the best voluntary organisation and was recognised as having the best staff serving the local community in Birmingham by the Midland Asian Community Achievement Awards Association. Bike scheme supports people with mental health problems in Derby

A mental health recovery house in Derby has teamed up with two local bike companies to set up a free cycle scheme to promote healthy living.

Residents at Trevayler, a medium term recovery service run by Richmond Fellowship, part of Recovery Focus, the national group of mental health and substance misuse charities, have swapped four wheels for two in an effort to promote healthy living. Read more →

Cambridgeshire man runs half marathon for charity that supported wife’s mental health

A St. Ives man completed his first half marathon to raise money and awareness for the mental health charity that helped his wife on her recovery journey.

Kevin Houchen, 42, took a break from managing the Ivy Leaf Club to tackle the Great Eastern Run in an impressive two hours and four minuets raising more than £850 for national mental health charity Richmond Fellowship.

Kevin’s wife Jo had a long history of anxiety and severe depression and was advised by doctors to give up work and challenge herself to do something fulfilling as Kevin explained:

A mental health worker from Southend has celebrated 15 years of supporting people living with mental health problems.

Chris Musson, 51 from Southend, celebrated 15 years of working for Richmond Fellowship, part of Recovery Focus, the national group of mental health and substance misuse charities, at a surprise party held by colleagues and residents at the charities’ supported housing service in Southend.

Mental health cafe scoops NHS award

A charity run café which aims to tackle mental health stigma in Blackpool has won a prestigious NHS award barely ten months since its doors opened.

Sparky’s, the pioneering social café run by Richmond Fellowship, the national charity making mental health recovery reality, took top prize for the NHS in the North West Excellence in Supply Awards 2015.

The award comes thanks to Sparky’s work in tackling mental health stigma and providing opportunities for people living with mental health problems to gain the confidence and skills to return to work through volunteering and apprenticeships.

Richmond Fellowship’s pilot scheme to trial an alternative ‘place of safety’ to police custody for individuals in mental distress has been hailed a success by an independent evaluation.

Reducing the use of custody cells for vulnerable people in a mental health crisis detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act is one of the Government’s key priorities.
