Positive Future for mental health in Havering

Positive Future open day

Positive Future, a community based mental health support service in Havering, enjoyed a very successful opening day as they celebrated a new approach to mental health support.

The service, operated by Richmond Fellowship the national charity making mental health recovery reality, had previously focussed solely on employment support for people who were out of work due to experiencing mental health problems.

However after consulting with people who used the service, Positive Future has expanded its remit to encompass a range of community projects and well being services.

Positive Future held an open day last week (Thursday 18th June) to show people the new approach mental health service.

April Harris, team leader for the service, said: “It was a brilliant and very successful day which was enjoyed by everyone who came along.

“We have over 70 members of Positive Future attend as well as representatives from Richmond Fellowship, employment advisors and members of the public and other local organisations.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to show off exactly what Positive Future achieves and as a result we have eight new referrals to the service and two extremely generous individuals offering their services to volunteer for Positive Future.”

The open day saw over 70 Positive Future members attend as well as members of the public and local organisations. The open day helped demonstrated everything Positive Future offers and everyone was on hand to demonstrate different elements of the service including the groups like music appreciation, self discovery and sign language.
