Mayor to attend culture and diversity mental health event

Richmond Fellowship will play host to the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea as part of an event to promote cultural diversity and tackle mental health stigma.

Councillor Robert Freeman will be in attendance at the event that will showcase a range of dancers, poetry, and cuisine from around the world.

Running for the mental health charity that saved my life

A Darlington woman is set to take on the Redcar half marathon to raise money and awareness for the charity that helped save her life.

Paula Roberts, 31, is aiming to complete the 13.1 mile run in two hours fifteen minutes in support of Richmond Fellowship, the national charity making mental health recovery reality.

And whilst the money raised will help support people living with mental health problems, Paula is also determined to use her marathon challenge to raise awareness for Richmond Fellowship and help tackle mental health stigma. Read more →

How’re we doing? Have your say on our services.

We want to find out what the people who use our services like about the work we do, and what they want us to improve.

Feedback from the people we support is really valuable as it helps us to see how we’re getting on and to demonstrate what we’re doing well.

It also highlights some of the areas that people would like us to do better at so we can address these and make sure that our services are always improving.

Our annual satisfaction survey is a great opportunity for the people who use our services to tell us what they think, so if you use one of our services please take the time to complete it.

Cyclists on 300 mile recovery ride

Service users from our partner organisation Aquarius are set to undertake a 300 – mile charity bike ride to raise awareness of substance misuse and recovery.

The sponsored ride will be ridden by ten people who’re in recovery and will raise money to further the work of Aquarius and other organisations in the Midlands to promote recovery from addiction.

The ‘Tour De Recovery’ will set off from Leamington Spa on the 7^th of September and arrive 5 days and 300 grueling miles later in Durham on the 12^th of September.

Mental health charities’ ‘Big Conversation’ consultation informs new strategy

The newly formed group of Richmond Fellowship, 2Care, CAN, Croftlands Trust, My Time and Aquarius, is developing a joint strategy to truly put the people supported by these organisations at the heart of what they do.

Earlier this year these organisations ran a ‘Big Conversation’ to help inform their plans to enable individuals to be more actively involved at all levels. And now we’re publishing the results.

Our reaction to interim report of Commission on Acute Adult Psychiatric Care

The Commission on Acute Adult Psychiatric Care led by former NHS boss Lord Crisp has found that significant numbers of people are having to travel long distances for care, while about three patients per ward – 16% nationally – are clinically well enough to be discharged but face a lack of suitable housing or supported accommodation, it says.

At Richmond Fellowship we think the voluntary sector could make a significant contribution and are keen to work more in partnership with local agencies to provide the right support to people at the right time.

Clothes bank appeal for employment service

A national mental health charity is appealing for donations of smart clothing to help support people who don’t own suitable clothing going for job interviews in Yorkshire.

Richmond Fellowship, the national charity making mental health recovery reality, provides employment support to people living with mental health problems with the aim of finding full time – work, helping them secure volunteering opportunities or full time training.

The charity’s employment service in Kirklees and Dewsbury is now appealing for people to donate their unwanted business outfits to help clients at the service who don’t own smart clothing for a job interview.

Mental health charity teams up with county council to expand services

A national mental health charity has teamed up with Durham County Council to expand its supported housing services in Bishop Auckland.

Richmond Fellowship, the national charity making mental health recovery reality, operates supported housing services throughout the country to help people living with mental health problems gain the skills and confidence they need to move onto independent living.

Hartlepool PCSO thanked for service to mental health

A Hartlepool based PSCO was praised this week by residents at a supported housing service for people living with mental health problems.

Staff and service users at Eamont Terrace, a service run by Richmond Fellowship the national charity making mental health recovery reality, joined together to thank PCSO Andrew Bell who has been instrumental in helping them over the last five years.
