Durham service scoops health award

bhawalogoOur services in Durham have been recognised by the North East Better Health at Work Award scheme following a number of health campaigns.

The Durham services were successful in securing the Bronze award after a year of promoting healthy living with information and courses on alcohol as well as managing mental health at work.

Gail McGee, team leader in Durham, said: “Health and wellbeing is very important to our team and this award recognises the work we’ve done over the last year to look at our wellbeing and make improvements.

“In our work we support people living with mental health problems, so ensuring we know about building our own mental resilience and how to deal with mental health in the workplace is vital. Hopefully we can work up to the Silver and Gold awards soon.”

The award recognises the achievements of organisations who actively promote health at work and work to ensure staff maintain their own physical and mental health.

As part of the award, the staff team in Durham participated in national awareness events such as Time to Talk day as well as Men’s Health Week and hope this award will help improve the level of care provided to people accessing services.
