We run a well established and successful garden centre in Epsom and a community based outreach service. Integrated within the local community, we provide retail and horticultural services to the public whilst providing realistic work based opportunities to local people with mental health problems.
The Old Moat offers training in nursery stock growing, propagation, vegetable and fruit production, retailing and administration as well as contract gardening. Opportunities at Queens Park include contract gardening, footpath clearance, park maintenance and conservation work.
How we help
We tailor our services to meet the needs of the individual. We positively encourage individuals to access a wide variety of roles which include formal and informal training, as a means to develop confidence and skills. Our gardeners meetings encourage service users to be actively involved in how we deliver our services, empowering people to make decisions and to be valued as part of the team.
Who we can help
If you are interested in accessing our services you should be over 18, live in Surrey, and have a recognised mental health problem.
Self referrals are welcome, as are referrals from GPs, and organisations providing services to people with mental health problems.
At the heart of everything we do lies:
- Hope: the belief that recovery is possible for every individual
- Respect: valuing differences and all contributions
- Enabling: giving people encouragement and support to achieve their goals
- Inclusion: the belief that everyone has a right to participate fully in society.
