DEREK CAREN, Chief Executive
Derek’s career started in frontline social work within community based mental health teams and in clinical teams on acute admissions and rehabilitation wards of NHS hospitals.
As part of the ‘Care in the Community’ drive in the 1980s, he was heavily involved in the re-provision of outdated psychiatric hospitals into new community based alternatives, working with housing associations, local authorities, health authorities, service users and their relatives.
For the last 15 years he has held senior positions in large national organisations, providing diverse services to a range of people from women fleeing domestic violence and children leaving the care sector to ex-forces personnel.
TIM ANDERSON, Director of People and Organisational Development
Tim is responsible for leading on people issues to enable Richmond Fellowship to deliver on its strategy. This includes ensuring we recruit and retain skilled employees to deliver services across the Group as well as facilitating effective people management to a workforce of over 1,200 employees.
Prior to joining Richmond Fellowship, Tim’s extensive career in human resources had been in the public sector, primarily within local government, in a number of London boroughs. He has had responsibility for people strategy, recruitment, reward, shared services, talent management and employee relations.
Much of this work related to tackling people challenges in the context of financial pressures and increasing citizen expectations in the public sector.
JUNE RILEY, Director of Finance
June completed an accredited MBA with Manchester Business School to add value to her career as an Accountant.
She started by training in Accountancy by entering the NHS as a graduate trainee shortly after leaving University and has worked at a senior level in the housing sector for over 20 years with a wealth of experience operating at a strategic level in charitable organisations.
June’s served in a voluntary capacity on several Boards, including Newham Homes Ltd where they were managing over 27,000 homes before going back into Council control. She is currently serving as a Senior Independent Director (SID) on The Barnet Group (TBG) board and as a Non-Executive Director on the board of Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association (ISHA).
The provision of good, affordable social housing, and quality care and support is a key concern of June’s, and she uses her skills and experience to facilitate improvement and initiate change in this capacity where it’s needed.
TRACEY BELL, Director of Performance, Quality and Innovation
Before joining Richmond Fellowship, Tracey’s career was predominantly in services that tackle the causes and effects of homelessness. She has also worked in substance misuse treatment services.
Tracey started out in a practitioner role, working as a resettlement worker for young street homeless people in central London and as a support worker within drug and alcohol services, before taking on senior management positions.
Tracey was Director of Operations for a national substance misuse charity before spending 10 years working for Shelter, where she headed up the North Operations, overseeing a portfolio of housing advice and support services across the North and Midlands.
Tracey is also a board member for Connect Housing Association in West Yorkshire.
ROBERT TEMPLETON, Director of Operations
Robert Templeton joined Recovery Focus in July 2019 as Director of Operations, covering Richmond Fellowship and its divisions My Time and DViP.
Robert has run his own health and social care consultancy, which included being the Independent Chair for Hampshire, Southampton and Portsmouth Safeguarding Adults Boards and he is the outgoing Chair of the National Network for Chairs of Safeguarding Adults Boards. He is also registrant non-executive council member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
His previous roles include Director of Health and Social Care Operations for the military charity SSAFA and Head of Transforming Adult Social Care at the Social Care Institute for Excellence.
