We are a Community Links service aiming to guide people in their recovery from mental health problems by helping them identify and achieve goals through engaging with mainstream community activity. Our team of advice workers and community development worker are based close to the centre of Ilford.
How we help
We run one to one advice sessions using the recovery star to develop goals and action plans with regular reviews. We also put on workshops aimed at developing skills e.g. healthy eating, interests e.g. creative writing and pathways to opportunities for continued development in the community e.g. college, local interest groups.
Individuals are helped to identify strengths, aspirations, interests and goals and to take ownership of their development. This process is supported by advisors who have a good knowledge of local resources and community groups and can assist in researching appropriate opportunities. Individuals are encouraged to set up their own activities as a way of promoting confidence building, self-direction and empowerment. The community development worker builds and maintains connections with the variety of different cultural community groups in the area.
Who we can help
Our service is available to residents in the Borough of Redbridge who are aged over 18 and have a mental health problem.
Referrals are accepted from individuals who are eligible or from services involved with their care.
Our approach
At the heart of everything we do lies:
- Hope: the belief that recovery is possible for every individual
- Respect: valuing differences and all contributions
- Enabling: giving people encouragement and support to achieve their goals
- Inclusion: the belief that everyone has a right to participate fully in society.
