Sparky’s cafe serves the community of Blackpool from the brand new Harbour NHS Hospital. Offering a wide range of good quality food and drink, Sparky’s is a community project to help challenge mental health stigma and provide opportunities for people living with mental health problems.
How we help
Our vision for the café is that it will provide a community hub where people can go for a relaxing chat with friends, as well as providing people with health and wellbeing advice ranging from healthy eating to dementia awareness sessions. We’re working with local colleges to provide apprenticeships and employment opportunities for individuals with lived experience of mental health problems.
By providing employment, volunteering opportunities and apprenticeships to people living with mental health problems we’re able to give people the chance to develop key skills, increase confidence and the chance to support the local community.
Who we can help
We provide a range of volunteering and employment based opportunities. Visit us at Sparky’s for more information or contact our employment service
At the heart of everything we do lies:
- Hope: the belief that recovery is possible for every individual
- Respect: valuing differences and all contributions
- Enabling: giving people encouragement and support to achieve their goals
- Inclusion: the belief that everyone has a right to participate fully in society.
