Plant Production

Growing and nurturing plants organically to a standard that competes commercially is something we are extremely proud of at TWIGS.

During the last year we held three open days, attended sales and community events, and provided a local garden with plants, raising over £5,000 for the project.

Our large site provides ample space for people to explore the therapeutic benefits of working in a garden. There area huge range of horticultural skills that people can develop to some extent these are covered by the seasons ie/ Spring – seed sowing, winter – pruning, but we endeavour to offer a varying range of activities on a daily basis. There is no requirement for people to have any previous knowledge or experience in gardening, an open mind and willingness to engage in an activity is all that is needed.

The main site consists of several demonstration gardens including cottage garden, pottager, wildlife, friendly garden and Japanese garden. There are also ponds, water features and a replica iron age round house.

Collectively the gardens provide a wonderfully peaceful, healing place which supports people in their journey to recovery.
