About Us

TWIGS is a therapeutic gardening project which aims to give people experiencing mental health problems the chance to regain confidence, self esteem and learn new skills. It is a stepping stone to recovery, further education, training and employment.

The TWIGS allotment site in Cheney Manor, and has been developed from a neglected disused site into a thriving, productive area which produces wholesome, fresh and seasonal vegetables. We have a holistic approach to horticulture and believe that gardening promotes a healthy mind, body and spirit.

QUALITY

We aim to supply good quality, fresh and nutritious produce to the local community. Our vegetables are as nature intended, we put flavour before uniformity and high yields and are tolerant of “imperfections”.

CUSTOMERS

It is our customers’ continuing support that will make us successful. We value feedback and aim to communicate news and information on a regular basis. We are a small team and aim to offer a personal service to people who appreciate good food and good principles. By buying from us you are supporting our project in its belief that we can make a difference to people’s lives and futures.

ENVIRONMENT

We have a sustainable approach to the management of the site and grow using natural organic methods. We avoid the use of harmful pesticides, weed killers and peat based composts which have a damaging effect on the environment. We incorporate measures beneficial to wildlife and believe in recycling, composting and green energy. We try to avoid excess packaging and choose to sell locally.

INTEGRITY

We strive to create a therapeutic and productive environment which enables people to flourish and reach their highest potential with support. We have grown our produce honestly and thoughtfully and are a non profit making scheme, all sales of our produce helps to fund the running of the project. We aim to have a social and environmental impact beyond the production of healthy vegetables and conduct business in an ethical manner. We treat people with respect, fairness and integrity and expect the same in return.
